Winter is finally coming to an end, and I couldn’t be happier! I am not a fan of the cold, snowy season at all. I don’t enjoy winter activities, wiping snow off of my car, the terrible roads or Winter photo shoots (Which is why most of my Winter content is created INDOORS lol).
Now on to happier things, Spring is upon us! I am so excited for warmer weather and Spring fashions, but first things first, spring cleaning that closet!
The whole process can truly be overwhelming. That’s why I’m breaking down 5 simple ways to get the job done.
1. Set aside Winter clothes
Take all of you winter clothes out of your drawers and off of your hangers. Fold them up and place them into a tote or bin of your choice. This makes it super easy to swap out clothes once the season changes, and also makes room for all of your new and old Spring fashions.
2. Keep clothes fresh with fabric sheets
Once you’ve set aside your Winter clothes, add some fabric sheets to keep them fresh while they’re tucked away. I recommend placing these in between every layer of folded clothes. That way once you unpack them, you won’t have that weird “I haven’t been worn in a while” smell slapping you in the face.
3. Get rid of what you didn’t wear
We’re all guilty of holding on to some items for far too long. Save your self the headache. If you haven’t worn it this winter (definitely the past two winters) get rid of it. You can donate it to a thrift store or sell on Poshmark. Think of it this way, getting rid of what you don’t wear makes much more room for new items in your wardrobe.
4. Stop by the cleaners
This is a great time to take your Winter coats to the cleaners. That way you can avoid procrastination and just get it out of the way. Plus they’ll be fresh and ready to wear once dreadful Winter comes back around!
5. Tuck away your hats, scarves and gloves
Who loves scrambling for a hat and matching pair of gloves? Not me. Store them in a bin or bag and place them somewhere convenient like at the top of the closet where you plan on hanging your Winter coats.
I hope these tips were super helpful! Here’s an easy to use checklist to make sure your closet is clean and Spring ready: Spring Closet Cleaning Checklist!
