In my last YouTube video, I shared that I was still working in the midst of the pandemic. Well that has not changed. However, what has changed is that I’ve actually been working from home… for about a month!
Yes, full on reporting and putting stories together from my living room (for those of you who don’t know or are new here, I’m a TV News Reporter and Anchor). Now on the days that I anchor, I do go into the station and there are very few people there, and my face is very much so beat.
However, when it comes to working from home while reporting, my makeup routine has definitely changed. I’ve been saving time (and product) by applying less and opting out of using some products altogether. If you’re working from home too, here are a few makeup essentials that will save you time yet still allow you to look presentable (and feel good) during those zoom meetings + work from home days:
The first step to your work from home makeup is the base of your overall face (aside from primer of course). For an even and flawless base, I’d recommend using foundation. For a natural, yet smooth and even base, I’d suggest using a BB cream. You can also simply use a moisturizer if you really want to keep it simple.
Secondly, you’ll need concealer. Especially if you have dark circles under your eyes, or any imperfections such as blemished or hyperpigmentation (dark spots). Concealer is also great for enhancing your eyebrows. Use a shade that matches your skin tone for a more natural look.
For your eyebrows, keep it simple by using a brow pencil. This is probably the easiest tool to use when it comes to brows, and the quickest. My absolute favorite is the Elf Precise Brow Pencil in the shade neutral. Don’t forget to outline the top and bottom of your brow with concealer to make your eyebrows really stand out.
Lips are another area where I like to keep it as simple as possible! My go-to when I’m working from home is chapstick (cherry) and my Fenty Universal Gloss Bomb. But honestly, any floss will do.
5. Mascara (optional)
Lastly, to make your eyes stand out and look more lively, simply add mascara to your top and bottom lashes. Or, if you prefer to keep it simple with your bare natural lashes…go for it!
As you can see, I mainly use drugstore products for my work from home makeup routine. They are super affordable and easy to use. My makeup routine has gone from 30-40 minutes to just 10 minutes! I hope you find this post helpful and can incorporate it into your routine on the days you’re working from home!
