My 27th Birthday Trip to Cancun, Mexico

My 27th Birthday Trip to Cancun, Mexico

I celebrated my 27th birthday in Cancun, Mexico! We stayed at the Royalton Chic Cancun All-Inclusive Resort, which was an adults-only resort. We arrived pretty early, well before check in, so our room wasn’t ready at first. But they were able to take our bags into a secure room so that we could enjoy ourselves before heading to our room, which was so nice!

HOTEL & ROOM

The resort was beautiful and the aesthetics were everything! It has 458 suites and four pools. There’s a main pool with a swim-up bar, a lazy pool that’s shallow with chairs that you can sit in, a rooftop pool called Level 18 (aka the party pool) and a pool that’s exclusive to Diamond-Club members. Diamond Club is an upgrade that claims to be a premium level of service. It comes with a butler, access to exclusive restaurants and bar areas, a private pool and beach area, and more. You can learn more about the Diamond club here

We didn’t get the Diamond Club upgrade because we didn’t think it was worth the extra money. Honestly, we didn’t see much of a difference without it. Although we didn’t have our own butler, if you tip well, a lot of the bartenders and waiters will wait on you hand and foot. They’re super friendly too, we were even on a first name basis with a lot of them. There wasn’t much of a difference between the main pool area and Diamond Club pool, except the members-only pool actually seemed smaller. Both had swim-up bars but the main pool was where all of the action and fun took place.

RESTAURANTS & BARS

The resort also had six different bars along with nine restaurants. There’s a dessert and coffee cafe, pub and grill, steakhouse, italian cuisine, mexican cuisine, asian cuisine and a buffet with international cuisine. This is also where breakfast is served. We took advantage of the omelet station every morning! They also had other breakfast options like waffles, French toast, an array of fruit, fruit juices and more. Their lunch and dinner options included things like salmon, mussels, different stews, salads, pizza and so much more. Hunter’s Steakhouse was one of my favorites, because I absolutely love steak. Theirs weren’t bad for an all-inclusive resort. I also loved the atmosphere of this restaurant at night, and it had the most beautiful view of the sunset. I also really enjoyed Vespa Ristorante, which had Italian cuisine. Their pastas were actually really good and so was their fried calamari. There were so many things on the menu I wanted to try. I took advantage of the “all-inclusive” part of this trip and ordered multiple entrees here. Lastly, I really enjoyed the pub and grill. If you’re looking for a burger and fry fix, this is definitely the spot. Plus, you don’t have to worry about dressing up to grab a bite to eat. We also had fun playing plenty of pool games!

FITNESS & ACTIVITIES

If you’re like me and enjoy working out even though you’re on vacation, this resort makes it so easy to do! They have an amazing gym facility with a variety of machines and weights. They also offer fitness classes like kickboxing, Zumba, aqua fitness, yoga and more. I really enjoyed the kickboxing class and sunrise yoga, it was so peaceful and such a great workout! These classes are also FREE!

As far as activities go, there’s plenty to do! There’s foam pool parties, themed party nights, a dance floor and more. The entertainment may vary depending on your stay. During our stay we enjoyed a Mexican heritage night that had plenty of vendors, authentic Mexican food, acrobats, dancers and singers. It was very nice!

If you’re interested in doing excursions, such as snorkeling, you can book those through they Royalton Chic Cancun resort for a fee. Unfortunately there are people who will approach you on the beach and try to sell you cheaper excursions and/or goods. I would suggest booking through the resort just to be safe, and not think about the price difference.

The Royal Spa

The luxe spa at the Royalton Chic Cancun resort was truly everything. It exceeded my expectations! You immediately feel relaxed just from walking in. The spa offers facials, massages, manicures, pedicures, body treatments and other signature treatments. I was treated to a massage on the beach for my birthday (thanks to my man!) It was so nice that I fell asleep and woke up confused and on cloud nine lol. The sound of the waves crashing in the ocean took me completely out! Afterwards, I enjoyed the back room of the spa which had a nice selection of different teas, an area to sit and relax, and of course a huge jacuzzi. You can spend as much time as you want in this room following your service. It was definitely hard to leave!

FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here and had such an amazing birthday! If I travel to Cancun, Mexico again, it’d be difficult to try to get me to stay anywhere else. The aesthetics and entire property were my total vibe! One thing I would do differently is actually venture off of the resort property to try some authentic Mexican restaurants. This was difficult to do since the resort had so many different cuisines, including Mexican, and it was all included with our stay. Other than that, the service was great, food and drinks were good and we had a great time here.

XO,

JAMIE
